Why: A written baseline helps an owner describe a real fault accurately and avoids treating every early flyer—or every leak—as the same thing.
Before shot one: prepare the evidence
Read the supplied manual before fitting a capsule or pellet. Set up a proper pellet trap and backstop, wear eye protection, remove other people and animals from the lane, and keep the muzzle in a safe direction throughout. Keep the invoice, order message, warranty card and box contents together. Photograph the pistol and accessories as received, including any transit damage. Do not dismantle, lubricate or adjust anything before the baseline unless the manual explicitly requires it.
- Confirm the pistol, four magazines and barrel path are clear and visibly undamaged.
- Mark the magazines 1, 2, 3 and 4 with a removable label; do not scratch them.
- Use one known, undamaged .177 pellet type for the full baseline.
- Let the 12 g CO₂ capsule reach normal room temperature naturally—never heat it.
- Prepare large paper targets labelled with date, distance, magazine and shot range.

What “seal break-in” should mean
A new CO₂ system can show small changes as sealing surfaces seat and the owner learns the correct capsule-fitting pressure. That makes the first capsule a useful observation period. It does not create a duty to fire through a leak, overtighten a fitting, add unapproved oil or dry-fire until something improves.
A brief sound at piercing can be part of installing the capsule as the manual describes. A continuous hiss after installation, gas escaping near your hand, frost at an unexpected joint, or an abrupt pressure collapse is different: stop the session, keep the muzzle safe, clear the pistol using the manual and contact support. Do not probe the valve or improvise an O-ring.
Do not “fix” the baseline
Changing pellet type, sight setting, grip, pace, distance and magazine at once produces noise, not evidence. Hold the variables steady, record the symptom and make only the adjustment the manual authorises.
The 100-shot progression
One magazine at 5 m
Load magazine 1 carefully. Fire a slow group on a large target with the same sight picture and follow-through. The goal is safe operation and a visible group—not a score or sight correction.
All four magazines at 5 m
Fire one eight-shot group from each numbered magazine. Note any repeated flyer, stiff rotation, pellet seating difference or unusual report against that magazine number.
Repeatability at 5 m
Repeat three slow groups without changing the sights. If the centre shifts as the capsule cools, pause five minutes and record whether it returns rather than immediately adjusting.
Move to 10 m when ready
Only move back after every shot is accounted for and operation is consistent. Use the same pellet, stance and pace. A larger group is expected from the added distance; look for pattern, not a promised size.
Confirm, do not race
Use the second capsule if the first shows a sustained decline. Finish with deliberate 10 m groups, then repeat one 5 m control group if you need to separate distance from a mechanical symptom.
How to read the 5 m and 10 m groups
At 5 m, ask whether all pellets land safely on paper and whether one numbered magazine produces a repeatable outlier. Do not judge the pistol from one unsupported group. Repeat the same hold and pace; if possible, have a competent second adult shooter produce a separate target without changing the sights.
At 10 m, expect the group to expose more of the shooter's sight alignment and trigger movement. A consistent group away from the aim point is a sighting question; a random group that tracks rapid firing may be CO₂ cooling; a single repeating flyer tied to one magazine may be a magazine or pellet-seating clue. These are diagnostic leads, not remote diagnoses.
What normal CO₂ behaviour can look like
Usually explainable
- A small point-of-impact change after a fast string as the capsule cools.
- Shot count varying with temperature, pace, capsule and pellet fit.
- A larger group at 10 m than at 5 m.
- Gradual decline near the useful end of a capsule.
Stop and report
- A continuous hiss or visible escaping gas.
- A cracked, displaced or visibly damaged seal.
- Repeated rotation failure or a pellet jam.
- Sudden unexplained power loss, loose structure or unsafe control.
“Normal” does not mean “ignore it.” Write down the shot range, magazine, pace and capsule condition. If a symptom repeats, a short video captured from behind the safe firing line may help the seller understand it. Never place a phone, hand or face beside the muzzle or gas path to record a fault.
CO₂ care during and after the session
- Control the pace. Deliberate groups reduce capsule cooling and make comparison easier.
- Never heat a capsule. Do not use hot water, sunlight, a flame, heater or enclosed hot vehicle to raise pressure.
- Do not overtighten. More force is not a cure for an installation error or damaged seal.
- Use only specified lubricant. General oils and excess oil can harm sealing materials or contaminate the system.
- Follow the exact storage instruction. Do not assume a pierced capsule belongs in the pistol long-term; use the supplied manual's removal and storage procedure.
Your one-page session log
For each target, write: date and time, 5 m or 10 m, pellet brand/type, capsule number, magazine number, shot range, approximate room conditions, pace, group observation and any sound or feed symptom. Photograph the target beside its label. That record is more useful to support than “accuracy is bad” or “CO₂ finished quickly.”
After shot 100
Remove the magazine, verify unloaded status yourself and handle the capsule exactly as the manual directs. Wipe external metal dry, inspect magazines for grit or damaged edges, lock the pistol away and keep pellets, capsules and access keys under adult control. Do not clean the barrel or dismantle the valve merely because the counter reached 100.
Compare the first and last targets. If the groups became more repeatable as your hold settled, that is useful owner learning.
